Dr. Boris Wertz is an Internet entrepreneur and investor and the CEO of W Media Ventures, a Vancouver-based venture capital firm that focuses on early-stage Consumer Internet investments in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. Boris is also a venture partner of Acton Capital Partners from Munich / Germany, a large consumer Internet fund that is focused on later stage companies. Previously, Boris was the Chief Operating Officer of AbeBooks.com, the world’s largest marketplace for new, used and rare and out-of print books which got sold to Amazon in 2008. Boris joined the company in 2002 after JustBooks, the German company he co-founded in 1999, was acquired by AbeBooks. Boris successfully finished his PhD as well as his graduate studies at the Graduate School of Management (WHU), Koblenz, majoring in Business Economics / Business Management. Boris serves on the boards of Suite101, German travel review site Tripsbytips.com (Reise-Community), hotel booking platform Escapio.com (check out their Berlin hotels), tailor made mens suits site Indochino.com, online league and team management tool TeamPages, local technology blog network Techvibes.com, authentic living site Carrie & Danielle, and LiveCurrent, a publicly listed e-commerce and media company. In 2005, Boris was the Pacific Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner. He lives in Vancouver with his wife Luisa (a dog treats entrepreneur) and loves the outdoors, reading and traveling.
